NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine Chapter

Student Osteopathic Internal Medicine Association (SOIMA)

Mission: Our mission is to:
– expose osteopathic medical students to the field of internal medicine, and its subspecialties
– demonstrate how osteopathic principles are used in the field of internal medicine and its subspecialties
– maintain a strong relationship with the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) in order to attain proper education, morals, and values
– represent our chapter well, as well as the entire national organization wherever we are
– provide information about new research and discoveries in the field of internal medicine

National Organization: http://www.acoi.org/

Our Chapter: One way to help students learn about the field of internal medicine is through guest speakers. We often have physicians come to speak about their internal medicine occupation and the steps they took to earn their current position. We meet with our own professors in a roundtable “meet and greet” as it is a nice way to interact with our professors in a friendly but still professional environment. Our club along with the Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, and Family Medicine clubs organized an EKG workshop. We provided a discussion about board preparation.

Dues: Local and national fee is free of charge
