Student National Medical Association (SNMA)
Mission: The Student National Medical Association is the nation’s oldest and largest independently student run organization. SNMA has a focus to address the needs of minority medical students, as well as promote healthy living and life style choices in under-served communities, through community service events, and workshops. SNMA has a commitment to encourage and increase the pipeline of minority students interested in pursuing medical and scientific careers through mentoring programs and local community involvement at all academic levels, with the involvement of our pipeline program; Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS). With over 5000 members in SNMA, ranging from Attending Physicians, Residents, Medical Students, and pre-Medical students, also to add with a presence in allopathic and osteopathic medical schools , our organization promotes education of health care issues, abroad as well as domestic. SNMA promotes building connections with all members to gain a better understanding of health care on a whole, through our regional and national conferences, which all members are encouraged to attending.

Our Chapter: Through out the school year NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine Chapter of SNMA puts on the Taste of The Nations Talent Show and Dinner, A series of Events for black history month, various Workshops educating students on the Health Care system and bake sale fundraisers.
