NYIT College of Osetopathic Medicine Student Chapter

American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists  (AOCA)

Mission: The NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine Chapter of the American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists provides students with experience in the specialty of Anesthesia.  Through workshops and lectures we hope to provide all members with the education and opportunity to shape their future in Anesthesiology in conjunction with osteopathic concepts and ethical standards.

National Organization: http://aocaonline.org/

Our Chapter: The AOCA NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine chapter offers opportunity to study and practice various aspects of the field, including, but not limited to the practice and pharmacology of Anesthesiology.  Between the hands-on workshops with training in intubation and IVs, to case studies and lunchtime lectures with our adviser Dr. Landman, students gain valuable insight into the specialty.  Students gain access to shadowing and researching opportunities, with some members even taking part in FAER, a Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship. Additionally, our chapter is active in the community with members gaining many TOUCH hours at past fundraisers, such bake sales with proceeds going to Island Harvest hunger relief organization on Long Island.  This year our club hopes to take part in the NYIT College of Osetopathic Medicine team for the St. Baldrick’s foundation to support childhood cancer research.
