The Cardiology Organization’s second meeting took place on December
5th, 2012 in Roger Williams Auditorium. Guest speaker Dr. Youhua Zhang
presented a discussion on his research titled “Role of Cardiac
Autonomic System in Heart Failure and A-fib.”
Dr. Zhang began his presentation by reviewing normal anatomy of the
heart’s conduction system and the role it plays in Atrial
Fibrillation. Various treatment options were discussed including
cardiac denervation and potential long term effects of treatment. Dr.
Zhang discussed his current research findings along with his future
research topics. The Cardiology Organization would like to thank
everyone who attended and Dr. Zhang for his informative presentation.
The next Cardiology Organization meeting will take place on February
7th with a presentation from Dr. Joseph J Germano who is the director
of Electrocardiography at Winthrop-University Hospital.
