The third general assembly meeting of the American Osteopathic College of Physical
Medicine & Rehabilitation, AOCPMR, was held on November, 8, 2012, at 12:00 p.m., in the
OMM lab. The meeting was held in conjunction with the Sports Medicine Club, AOASM.
Present: President -Kathleen Minerly, Vice President -Brian Poon, Secretary -Baruch Kim,
Treasurer -Sarah Welch
Absent: Journal Club Chair -Michael Flamm
Dr. Yao began the meeting with a Q&A session about using OMM in internship and
residency as well as the path one may take to specialize in OMM and neuromuscular medicine.
Dr. Yao selected a student with back pain and demonstrated how one could do a full
body assessment and treatment in less than 15 minutes. He had the patient do miscellaneous
special tests so he could make a diagnosis for the cause of his back pain. Next, he treated
multiple areas that contributed to the back pain. Then he reassessed the patient by showing an
improvement from the initial screening and special tests.
The meeting adjourned at 1:00 pm, but Dr. Yao allowed the lab to stay open for
supervised OMM practice.
