Firstly, we want to thank all of those who helped with the SOMA Bake Sale on 10/16. We raised $143 for Team NYIT-COM in the Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk on 10/20. Also, a big thanks to all those who participated in the walk.
On October 17th, we had our second SOMA meeting. At that time we discussed the writing of resolutions and would like to re-emphasize
this with the following from our local SOMA president: Is there something dealing with the AOA or SOMA that you would like to change? Resolution writing is a great way to do that. Anyone can write a resolution that is reviewed by members of National SOMA and once approved, sent to the AOA for discussion. The AOA receives these resolutions and deems if there is a change that can occur. If you are interested in writing a resolution, please contact any SOMA E-Board member and we will be happy to help you!
We also had Dr. Happel join us to speak about how to manage a healthy lifestyle while in medical school. She gave some great tips from personal experience and the American Heart Association. Contact your SOMA e-Board if you would like a summary of those tips.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, December 4th. Dr. Broder will be there to tell us about NYCOMEC. This is very important information for all of us, so we hope to see you all there!
