The following is a message from Tom Levitan, Vice President of Research and Application Services at AACOM:
AACOM is pleased to announce the online publication of Outcomes of the Osteopathic Match, 2009. This report was compiled by AACOM in cooperation with the AOA and NBOME to support osteopathic medical students in their specialty selection and participation in the osteopathic graduate medical education match program. Several years ago COSGP requested that an osteopathic match report (similar to an NRMP/AAMC report) be developed. This report is the result of work by AACOM using match data provided by AOA and COMLEX scores provided by NBOME. As noted in the methodology section of the report, all personal identifiers were removed from the data file before the report was developed.
While the report will be useful, the smaller size of the AOA DO match in comparison to the NRMP MD match limits the data that can be reported.
The report is posted for download on the AACOM www site Data and Trends page – http://www.aacom.org/data/
We are pleased that the report is done and in time that it may be of some use to graduating students who are participating in the match next spring.
We welcome your comments/suggestions for possible future editions of this report. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me.
