The NYCOM Chapter of the American Osteopathic College of PM&R (AOCPMR) would like to welcome everyone who joined us at the Activities Fair and at our First General Meeting held on September 8th. The activities fair was a great success, with many new members that joined us this year.
At our first meeting, Dr. Lynn Weiss, Chair and Residency Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Nassau University Medical Center, came in to speak about PM&R and the program at NUMC, including the benefits of using OMM in physiatry. We had a great turnout and could see that many students showed a lot of interest in the field. Afterwards, we held our raffle, giving away lots of great prizes, including the USMLE First Aid book, Amazon gift cards, and PM&R pocket guides, generously donated to us by Dr. Weiss. We also elected our new 1st year Representative, Kathleen Minerly, who will make a fine addition to our e-board.
Stay tuned for upcoming PM&R events! Our workshops are currently being arranged and our Journal Club schedule is nearing completion. Remember, paid members get priority when signing up for workshops so sign up at our next meeting on Friday, October 14th at Mollie Auditorium! Dr. Robert Gotlin D.O., Director of Orthopaedic and Sports Rehabilitation at Beth Israel and consultant for the NY Knicks (NBA), NY Liberty (WNBA), NJ Nets (NBA), and NY Yankees (MLB) is coming to speak to us, and as always, free food!
