On Tuesday 10/11, the Orthopedic Club held our third meeting of the year. We hosted Dr. Futterman from the Anatomy Department who gave a presentation describing fractures. He discussed fracture direction, fragments, number of fragments, and communication with the atmosphere. Fractures can be classified as incomplete, displaced, complete, or compression.
We also distributed fracture cards to members outlining open fractures, Salter Harris Classification of Pediatric Physeal Fractures, Neer Classification of the Proximal Humerus, Mason Classification of Radial Head, Frykmann Classification of Distal Radius, Gerden Classification of the Femoral Neck, Winquist Classification of the Femur, Schatzker Classification of the Tibial Plateau, and Lauge-Hansen & Weber Classifications of the Ankle. These cards will be useful during orthopedic rotations or for review. We hope to see you at our next meeting on Tuesday, November 29th at 12pm in William Rogers Auditorium.
