On Wednesday 9/21, the Orthopedic Club held our second meeting of the year. We hosted both Dr. Futterman from the Anatomy Department and Dr. Dadger, the chief resident at Peninsula Hospital. Dr. Futterman spoke about his experiences as an orthopedic surgeon and his transition into academics. He addressed issues such as residencies, DO vs. MD, a typical day in the life of an orthopedic surgeon, and some of his more interesting cases. Dr. Futterman also mentioned the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, which was founded in 1983 as a support and networking group for the growing number of women orthopedic surgeons.
Dr. Dadger met with a smaller group of students to discuss specifics about orthopedic residency programs. He addressed some of the credentials residency programs look for in a candidate.
We would also like to welcome Theresa Apoznanski, OMS I as our first year representative. We look forward to an exciting year and hope to see you at our next meeting on Tuesday, October 11th in William Rogers
