On September 16, 2011, the LGBT in Medicine Interest Group held its first ever general body meeting! The meeting started off with E-board introductions and a video of several LGBT patients discussing their experiences with healthcare providers. We then held an informative workshop on LGBT Terminology, followed by an introduction and a short talk from our advisor, Dr. Blazey. At the end of the meeting, raffle prizes were handed out, and we elected out first year representative, Michael Metz. We also offered an opportunity to become trained in HIV testing & counseling, which we will be discussing further at our 2nd meeting on October 25th.
